This combination of a two and one bedroom unit was reconfigured into a four bedroom unit organized around a large central living and dining space oriented to the street with a single object acting as a functional control point within the new configuration. The object, white on the outside and bright red on the inside, contains storage for shoes and coats by the entry, the large open kitchen, a wine refrigerator, and all mechanical and lighting equipment for the adjacent spaces. The object and the living space sit on a new walnut wood floor, stained deep black to heighten the contrast with the object and the furnishings

Further room divisions are achieved with new built in shelving and storage, designed with recessed access handles and inset electronics. The new third bedroom to the street has clerestory glass panels to allow diffuse light into the dining space.
